I got to meet sweet Kylie, her mom and her grandma! We had the sweetest mini session for this chunky baby girl. She was such a wonderful smiley baby, I definitely wished it was a full session. Every time I think of going away from studio newborn sessions, I have a baby in studio and fall in love with this style of photography all over again. That also means, I want more props each time. Part of it is the fact that I love to customize all my session. My favorite is when the parents just tell me to go create. My heart always sings when I get to create a new set up, just like I did in this session! Here are a few favorites below <3

I know I say this a lot, but you know how sometimes you just click with your clients? Well this was indeed one of those times. We got blessed with a glowy sunny evening and Ashley’s dress just lit up in the sunlight. She also must be a hair wizard, because somehow her hair stayed perfect the entire session.

Even when the sun disappeared, the magic continued and we got a few quiet sweet moments at the end of our session. I am very much looking forward to meeting their sweet baby in a few weeks for the newborn session.

For now, please enjoy this gorgeous session. She got her dress from Pink Blush for those of you who are curious! They have wonderful sales and super cute dresses!

So happy little Romeos Mom contacted me for this newborn session and we were able to squeeze it in! She told me she realized she wanted to do a newborn session once she saw him asleep. He was so sweet and peaceful, she had to capture it. She sent me a photo of Romeo and a sweet tiny video where she caught him smiling. I couldn’t agree more, he was so precious and I couldn’t wait to meet him. We didn’t capture any sweet smiles during his mini newborn session, but he was pure perfection otherwise.

I am not going to lie, the shots of baby Romeo and his daddy are my favorite. There’s something about Dads holding their tiny babies in their large arms that is so comforting and beautiful. We also did a pretty awesome set up with Mom and Dad both holding him in their hands. I only wish we were able to keep him for a full newborn session. Let me know what you think below. Congratulations Mom and Dad!

This weekend we had the pleasure of participating in Whidbey Island Family Forest Fest. It’s basically a large family campout event. It’s all for and about kids. Some part of it almost looked like some kind of Burning Man for children. We all didn’t know what to expect going into this, but I had a feeling it would be great.

During the 2.5 days we were there, I saw my daughter maybe a total of two hours during daytime. She made friends fast and they had become inseparable. The boys had a blast too. Between the ride on toys, the teddy bear hunt, the bubble show, the glow sticks and more, everyone had something they loved. We did also make some friends, that we hope to reconnect with soon.

Alex - I love this documentary session! Whidbey Island looks like a beautiful place. If I am ever in the area, I will contact you for family photography!ReplyCancel

It is always so very fun and satisfying to see babies that I photographed as newborns. I met this beautiful family last year when they had their second baby girl. Now, it was time for a family session before the Navy temporarily separates them. I know these photos mean a lot to them now. They will mean a lot to the girls while their parents are away. I can’t wait to help this family print some art for their walls and an album full of memories.

Their session was entirely full of laughter and playtime. We explored the West Beach at Deception Pass State Park (after a short confusion about which West Beach we were going to). As it seems to happen a lot, I dismiss the sunset, thinking that the sky turns gray and it will be a dud. Well it happened again. We were on the way back to the car, when the sky turned pink and purple. I remember almost yelling in a hurry for everyone to head over the a large piece of driftwood and just sit and play a little. I think those last few photos are my favorite in the series!
